Happy 15th Birthday to Holland America’s private-island Half Moon Cay! To celebrate the milestone, Holland America added a couple new enhancements to the island like a 290-guest glass-bottom boat to view the Bahamian reefs, as well as six horses added to the popular horseback riding tour.
The biggest enhancement of all is the addition of five new two-story Beach Villas. Priced at $549.95 (per eight people), these air-conditioned villas are complete with hot tubs on the second floor, making it the only cruise line villas in the Caribbean with hot tubs. A mist shower, non-alcoholic beverages (not unlimited), vegetable dip among other amenities included in the package. Right now the Beach Villas are only offered to Holland America guests.
The island chapel, a popular wedding venue, was also repainted and restored with new pews and artwork.
The 1,700-acre Half Moon Cay serves as a beach stop for Holland America and Carnival Cruise Lines, and has won the award for best private cruise destination for 12 years in a row by Porthole Cruise Magazine.
