30 Tons Of Gummy Bears!

With many airlines scaling back on complementary products & services it is rare to hear a fun statistic like the airline Lufthansa reveled recently.

If these rich women from 5th Avenue spend a fortune on cashmere sweaters, they will come to my store to buy gummy bears.

While at a travel conferance, the speaker noted that they operate 1,900 flights daily, have carried 75 million passengers a year and serves 30 tons of Gummy Bears a year.

Yes, Gummy Bears!

Yes, I am talking about that fun, sticky, smoosy, sweet, loveable treat kids (and all kids at heart) love.

Gummy Bears or Gummibarchen (as it is known in Germany) is the number one treat that kids are given complementary to all children on all of Lufthansa flights.

This chewy snack is a gift to children as part of Lufthansa’s children’s programs called Jet Friends.

The flight attendants pass out approximately 2 millions bags of these little treats a year to their younger flight passengers.

I am sure that if you ask really nice and are over the age of 12, that the flight attendants may sneak you a bag of Gummy Bears too!
